On Monday, August 25th RazALERT emergency Notification system sent a warning notification to students at the University of Arkansas stating to avoid the Mullins Library due to an active shooter being reported. Law enforcement received over 30 emergency 911 calls and 308 landline calls about an active shooter at seven different buildings on campus. However, following the recent wave of false reports on college campuses nationwide no threat was found. KATV

According to former police chief, Jarrod Burguan, Minneapolis Police Departments response to the Annunciation Catholic School shooting showed significant improvements in how law enforcement handles mass casualty events. Burguan applauds the Minneapolis PD for being very clear in their press conferences and for giving very good information. He says that it was because of these clear press conferences that there has not been a lot of false information about the event.

More than 800 killed after strong quake hits Afghanistan. Over 800 people have been killed and nearly 3,000 injured after a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit Afghanistan Sunday, August 31st. The hardest hit area was in a remote mountainous area making it difficult for rescue operations. This disaster is just the latest to strike Afghanistan following a severe drought, aid cuts and an unprecedented hunger crisis.

Young fan given the VIP treatment by the Phillies and Marlins after having home run ball stolen from him. On September 5th an ordinary game against the Miami Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies turned very heated, and not just on the field. During the fourth inning outfielder Harrison Bader hit a home run into the left field stands. A father to a young son retrieved the ball and brought it back to his over the moon excited son. However, that excitement did not last for very long when a women came marching up to the father and son. After some arguing the father yielded the ball to the woman. This incident did not sit well with the players, especially Harrison Bader who signed a bat for the young boy. The Marlins gave him a goodie bag and a baseball for him to keep as well.

Italian Fashion designer, Giorgio Armani, dies at the age of 91. Armani's fashion house confirmed Thursday that Armani died at his home peacefully. The Fashion house also said in a statement "indefatigable to the end, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections and the many ongoing and future projects". At the time of his death Armani's fashion empire worth over $10 billion. Armani is known for dressing movie stars to executive. Man delivers ice cream to hikers in Colorado. On Labor day weekend an unknown man set out on hike up a Huron Peak. Only his pack was a little different than the typical hikers, he had a 60 pound pack full of ice cream sandwiches and bars and dry ice to keep them frozen. The man dressed in an Ice cream costume and all handed out free ice cream to the hikers. Blane Griffen stated "Eventually we got up the top of the mountain and, tired, hot, thirsty, and didn't know it, but ice cream was just kind of what we wanted."

Five-year-old Florida boy, asks police if he was going to jail after a trip to Chick-fil-a. One early morning William decided that he was craving Chick-fil-a for breakfast. So while his parents where still asleep he snuck out of the house and walked to Chick-fil-a. Soon the police were called to help locate the boy's parents. However, William after eating his breakfast was only worried about one thing: where the police going to take him to jail. After some reassuring that he was not going to jail the police took him back home to his parents who were truly dumbfounded that he had been at Chick-fil-a.

This means the prosecution dismisses the charge; however, the defendant can be charged again if more evidence is presented.

Suspected Sinaloa cartel members apprehended in DEA sweep stretching across 23 states. On Monday September 8th, the Drug Enforcement Administration announced that from August 25th through the 29th 617 people were arrested that had ties to the Cartel. During the seizures 480 kilograms of fentanyl powder, 2,209 kilograms of methamphetamine, 7,469 kilograms of cocaine, 16.5 kilograms of heroin, more than 714,000 counterfeit pills, 420 firearms, and $11 million in cash was discovered.

Department of Homeland Security states it is launching Operation Midway Blitz. The new initiative will target undocumented immigrants who have been known to commit crimes across Chicago and Illinois. On September 8th the Department of Homeland security stated in a social media post that the operation is in honor of Katie Abraham. Katie was killed in a hit-and- run crash in January by a Guatemalan national who is in the United States illegally. This comes just a week after the Trump administration deployed the National Guard troops and ICE agents to Chicago after a violent Labor Day weekend. However, the people of Chicago are not as enthused about this and have set to doing protests against the operation and the Trump administration.

Matt Prater nailed the game-winning field goal after only being on the Buffalo Bills roster for a week. Before that Prater believed that he may not be getting a chance to play a 19th season of Football considering that all of the league's teams had finalized their active rosters and he was still a free agent. However, the Buffalo Bills had lost their starting kicker after a injury. And so while Prater was writing a practice plan out for his sons football team he got the call. By Sunday evening Prater was not only playing in his 19th season, but he kicked the winning field goal and gave the Bills the win with a 41-40 score against the Baltimore Ravens.

Four-year long search for a New Zealand man and his three children ends in a shootout. Tom Phillips and his three children first went missing in September of 2021. Police launched a massive search costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. However, Phillips and his three young children simply appeared back home three weeks later claiming they had been on a camping trip. Then they vanished again in December and ultimately avoiding Phillips warrant after not appearing for court after he had been charged with wasting police resources. Then on Monday September 8th, Phillips was killed in shootout after he attempted burglary after four years on the run from police. Questions still remain about Phillips suspicious disappearances.
